Parking in Sonoma

Parking around Sonoma Plaza is generally easy compared to larger wine country destinations, but weekends and events can fill up quickly.

Main Parking Options

Free Public Parking Lots

The City of Sonoma offers two main free public lots downtown:

• Free All Day Parking
  Located behind the historic Sonoma Barracks just north of the plaza off 1st Street East. This is the largest and most convenient all-day option.

• Public lot behind Sebastiani Theatre
  Smaller lot accessed from East Napa Street with EV charging stations available.

Street Parking

Street parking surrounding the plaza is:

• Free

• Typically limited to 3 hours

• Enforced Monday–Saturday from 9 AM–5 PM

• Usually unlimited on Sundays

If you’re planning wine tasting, dining, or shopping for several hours, the public lots are the better option.

Best Tips

• Arrive before 11 AM on weekends or event days.

• Tuesdays during the seasonal farmers market can be busier.

• Special events like the Sonoma International Film Festival or holiday weekends can make parking more difficult.

• Sonoma is very walkable, so parking a few blocks away is usually fine.

The Sebastiani Theatre public lot and Sonoma Community Center include EV charging stations.
